Where Your Support Went
This year the Foundation gave the library $209,561 toward programs, books and materials. Highlights of the Foundation’s support follows:

Summer Reading The Foundation supplied $100,000 to the Sacramento Public Library’s 2019 Summer Reading Program.  This follows  investment of $135,000 in 2018, $125,000 in 2017, $137,500 in 2016, $125,000 in 2015, $110,000 in 2014, $100,000 in 2013 and $59,000 in 2012.  In 2019 the library enrolled more than 27,500 children 0-17.  While we did not see an increase this year, we are sticking to our goal of supporting 1 in 4 of Sacramento’s children to participate — i.e. 90,000 children.

Books and Materials Endowment This year’s distribution of more than $43,582 boosted the Sacramento Public Library’s collection.

Branch Support Colonial Heights was given an $18,000 gift from the June and Ritz Naygrow Family Foundation which will be added to the previous $58,000 granted.  These monies will be used for a yet to be specified project.  In addition, the Rancho Cordova Library was given $7,500 this year which will be added to the previous $2,500 for a project that will be completed this year.

Sacramento Room EndowmentThis year’s distribution of more than $39,823 is designated for digitization of the Sacramento Room archive.  A proposal from the Library is still pending for this gift and will be focused on continuing the digitization of the archive.  Previous  year’s support has been used to create an additional room temperature controlled area for the growing archive and continued digitization of the archive.
Sacramento Room General Collection
The Jack and Lillian Sioukas Endowment Fund to Benefit Sacramento Public Library Sacramento Room, held by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, gives the Sacramento Room’s general collection support every year.  Combined with lesser contributions, we were able to give the Sacramento Room General Collection $6,720.
